HI, I’M KYLIE HANCOX
Hi, I’m Kylie Hancox. I’m a Brisbane-based Celebrant, who loves doing Naming Ceremonies, Weddings, and I’m also a professionally-trained and accredited Funeral Celebrant.
I a woman who wears many hats; I’m a wife, a daughter and a mother to wee babes who earned their angel wings too early. Professionally, I’m a Human Behaviour, Mindset and Business Coach. I’m also a Speaker, a trainer and facilitator, and a Leadership specialist who helps people be all they can be in this world.
My vices are travel and adventure, and when I’m not off exploring, I’m often found volunteering my time. I’m also a Justice of the Peace (Qualified) Queensland.
Perhaps you can tell that I really love life.
I love people and celebrating milestones in their lives. Creating ceremonies that are as individual as the people I work with is such a fulfilling role.
It’s because of this that I love what I do so much. In fact, it’s not really ‘work’ at all. It’s so many things, and takes so many different forms, that every day is different. The common factor is that it’s all to do with people; to create something compelling, memorable and special for them.
Yes, I’ve got more than one set of earrings and visible tattoos. I’m a bit zany, fun-loving, and always up for a challenge.
I became a celebrant because I love love, and I believe it’s essential to celebrate all of the important moments in our lives. Our name, our wedding day, and when our life is over, a funeral service that truly reflects the life we’ve lived.
If you’re looking to personalise your ceremony, great! My gift is creating ceremonies that allow those present to share with you all the fantastic parts of life, in whatever form that takes.
Together we might create the wedding ceremony of your dreams. You know, the one your guests remember for years to come for all the right reasons. My own wedding was boring, stuffy and we had virtually no say in any of it. I promise you; your ceremony won’t be that! I’ll work with you to create precisely the ceremony you want.
We might create a naming ceremony for your little one, or maybe even announce your new name to the world. How wonderful!
And when needed, it’s working with you to design a funeral service that honours your family members’ life – the love, the laughter, and the tears – in safety, solidarity and with great respect and care.
EVERY PART OF LIFE MATTERS
There’s a hidden taboo in our world. And that’s talking about death and dying.
I’m the person you can have those ‘taboo’ conversations with, knowing you are safe to ask any questions. If I don’t know the answer, I guarantee that I know people who do.
I’m incredibly passionate about educating people about life and death. This means I actively seek to dispel the myths and fears that so many people have regarding death and funerals. Dying is simply the final act of living.
Death and dying have been swept under the carpet for too long. Someone said to me “I have a terminal illness”. I know how hard those words are. The challenge they represent. Yet as we talked, I shared a thought; “I believe being diagnosed with ‘life’ is terminal”. It’s a path that one day, we all must walk.
So let’s change that and learn what it means to live a great life without fear of death. This also means that we know what to do when it does happen. In the cycle of life, death is simply another part of living; it’s our final act in the greatest adventure of all.
This is what I do. It’s who I am and what I was put on earth to do. I look forward to meeting you and bringing your special ceremony to life.
